Heather Heinz
Heather Heinz was barely into grade school the first time she caught — and was subsequently bitten by — a snake. Undaunted, her passion for reptiles has only grown throughout her life. Heather’s past shows her passions — travel, teaching, and science — and includes a two-year stint as an English teacher in Japan, field research in Belize and Ecuador, and, most recently, a two-month trip to southern Africa collecting geckos for her master’s thesis investigating their evolutionary relationships. Mindful of her beginnings as a curious girl chasing snakes in the woods, she aspires to cultivate international collaborations and to instruct young researchers in her future career as a professor of Biology.
