Ryan Chabot is a first-year Graduate Assistant in the Department of English. He received his B.A. in English from Boston College in 2009. His interests are early modern literature, especially Donne, Marvell, and Jonson; poetry and poetics; queer and post-structuralist literary theory; and, law and literature. This summer, he will work on a research project on the influences of early modern technologies of language on contemporary poetic form. He would like to thank Dr. Alice Dailey, whose sixteenth century literature course inspired this essay, and Steven Schultz for their invaluable comments on earlier drafts.
