Zack M. Sievers is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Philosophy as well as a filmmaker (writer/director Closed Frame 2014, director Circles and Circles Short 2016). He received a Bachelor of Arts from Bradley University in Political Science and Philosophy (summa cum laude, 2011) as well as a Master of Arts from Brock University in Philosophy (2014). His areas of interest and growing expertise include: philosophy of neurobiology and neurophysiology, post-Merleau-Pontian phenomenology (specifically, Alphonso Lingis), French Feminism and playwriting/literature (Hélène Cixous, Marguerite Duras), and the thought of painter Vincent van Gogh (Michael Greene, Jean Wahl, Maurice Blanchot, Georges Bataille). He is currently undertaking research pertaining to visceral experience, communication and community through a concept he terms the visceral bond.
