Afton Lorraine Woodward graduated summa cum laude from Washington College in 2006 and will receive her M.A. in English at Villanova in May 2012. Afton’s research interests include eighteenth-century British literature and the history of science, and she has worked as the graduate assistant for the Villanova Literary Festival for two years. Afton is a writer and editor in Princeton, NJ, and plans to continue her career in education assessment. She would like to thank Dr. Deborah Thomas, whose Dickens class inspired this essay.
