Abstract
This essay uses Shakespeare's Coriolanus and 1 Henry IV, real-life war, and the metaphorized war of the National Football League to explore how the physical landscape of the battlefield functions as a performance area in which toxic masculinity is constructed, privileged, and perpetuated.
